Plant-A-Row for the Hungry (PAR)
The Chesapeake Master Gardener's is a program sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, Chesapeake Master Gardeners and the Garden Writers of America. The PAR program exists on the premise that many gardeners have excess produce during the height of growing season while at the same time people are facing hunger. Locally, we take produce grown by Chesapeake residents & farmers and donate the surplus to the City's hungry. Canned and boxed pantry items are also accepted.
From June to September, 9:00AM to 12:00PM every Tuesday, Plant-A-Row urges local gardeners and farmers to share their extra produce by dropping it off at Taylor's Do It Center, 330 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake.
Chesapeake Master Gardeners Workshops
The Chesapeake Master Gardeners run Workshops throughout the year. Workshops are held at different venues throughout the city of Chesapeake as a convenience & accessability to all residents. New Workshop schedules are published around the beginning of every annual quarter. For a current Workshop schedule, or to offer any suggestions on new Workshop themes, call 757-382-6348.
